At Church Hill Primary School, our Early Years provision is rooted in expert, inclusive practice that places each child at the centre of learning. Guided by the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we recognise every child as a unique learner and build a deep understanding of their interests, strengths and developmental needs through careful observation and ongoing assessment. This knowledge informs our bespoke curriculum planning, enabling us to create rich learning environments that encourage curiosity, exploration and active learning. Skilled practitioners use high-quality interactions, sustained shared thinking and responsive “in-the-moment” teaching to extend children’s ideas, challenge their thinking and support them to make meaningful connections in their learning. Through this responsive approach, we nurture children’s confidence, creativity and independence, ensuring that every child is supported and stretched so that they make the best possible progress from their individual starting points.
